Turning 11 is mystical, and the 11th anniversary party, presented by Adidas Originals and held recently at Zouk was just that: dark, spiritual and very tasty. In numerology, 11 happens to be a master number that holds great value of mystic worth; matched up with characteristics like idealism, inventive genius and avant garde greatness (swear we didn’t make this up), which pretty much sums up what our magazine is all about.

The symmetrical and numerical formation of 11:11 used in our theme was made to double whatever all that stuff is about, and double the party’s entertainment value, we did. Amberhaze kicked the night off with a live performance of ambient soundscapes, mesmerising the early crowd with a variation of self composed tunes (including a cover of Aphex Twin’s “Film”). The fashion bite of the night was served up thereafter, with adidas Originals launching its latest season collection for girls, done in collaboration with French graf princess, Fafi, as well as London hipster clothes label, PPQ. A video presentation whipped up by our photographer friend, Ivanho Harlim served as entrée, before a short but delectable runway show wrapped the sparkling moment up. The final glory was helmed by the dainty Analog Girl, who delivered the goods and got everyone pacing the floors with her experimental electronic pop sounds.

A dash of side activities, which included tarot card readings and fortune telling by men in robes allowed party goers to enter the future with some knowledge of what holds, and what doesn’t. Besides showcasing the season’s coolest fashion threads, and giving props to our nation’s finest laptop musicians, the party also allowed for our DJ Quest ’09 winner, Artihc, to drop a couple of minimal tech beats throughout the outing and for one of ’s fave club lubes, Bacardi, to serve up their Bacardi Superior liquids for all those worthy of a pour.
