Bombay Sapphire Collins @ Singapore Design Festival 2009

At the Singapore Design Festival last month, not only did punters get a visual feast of local art and design, the refreshing taste of the Bombay Sapphire Collins was also on constant flow. Concocted with Bombay Sapphire gin, fresh lemon juice, soda water and sugar syrup, the Bombay Sapphire Collins proved to be an ideal serve – a new twist on an old classic, and a cool tipple to match your hot flash. Across one long week, the drink was spotted at SDF events such as the Dlab Collection Launch at P5, the Red Dot Design Award Show, the Icisd World Design Congress Opening Party at Zouk, and the Cityscapes Release Party at City Hall.

Fitting too, as the Bombay Sapphire has long been championing young and innovative design. Initiating the Bombay Sapphire Designer Glass Competition in the early-’90s, it’s been commissioning renowned designers to realise their visions of the ultimate cocktail glass, as inspired by Bombay Sapphire. The likes of Tom Dixon, Eva Zeisel and Karim Rashid have done it, and had their designs featured in the brand’s global advertising campaigns, while this year, up to 150 local designers have also jumped in the fray. As a brand that continuously celebrates and recognises great visual talent (whether in ceramics, textiles or furniture), Bombay Sapphire is but the perfect accompaniment to a room, or festival full of design.
