djB & Danny Marquez – Oniwaye EP

by JUICE on Monday, 11th April 2011

Zouk’s very own djB has lately paired up with Bubble Soul Music main man Danny Marquez, and a pumping tech-house monster that is the Oniwaye EP is the result of that collaboration. “Oniwaye” heads up the project, shifting and soaring with hi-hats, synth stabs and an relentless pulse, and comes ably accompanied by “Musik”, which dives to the depths of house before resurfacing with a wave of white noise and screaming pads. Even house legend George Morel can’t help but pitch in with a rolling, bass-heavy remix of the title track. What’s to resist?

Get the Oniwaye EP from 20 April over at Defected.

Thom Yorke’s Low End Theory DJ set

by JUICE on Thursday, 17th March 2011

You may or may not have heard that Thom Yorke DJed for Low End Theory last week, alongside Flying Lotus himself and other Brainfeeder folk. We ponder if second and third careers as an interpretive dancer and beat maker might ensue. Here’s an except of his riotous set over at the Airliner, because JUICE never leaves you high and dry.

Justice – “Civilization”

by JUICE on Wednesday, 16th March 2011

CLEAR THE DANCEFLOOR. Justice is back, you guys. Four long years after it came bearing †, the electro duo has finally re-emerged from wherever it’s been with a minty fresh track. Entitled “Civilization”, it happens to be the soundtrack to the All Adidas campaign and remains the kind of stuff that electro-house wet dreams are made of. We’re sure there’s some daft punk involved somewhere too. The single drops 4 April, followed by an album later this year. Here’s a video rip of the single to whet your growing appetites -

French Horn Rebellion – The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion

by JUICE on Monday, 14th March 2011

This Brooklyn-based dance-pop duo has been coming up so quickly that you can’t possibly not notice (especially with that haircut). Over the past three years, Robert and David Perlick-Molinari have pressed three EPs of excellent electro-pop, collaborated with peeps like Hot Chip, Sleigh Bells and Cut Copy, produced MGMT’s Time to Pretend EP, and worked their remix muscle on tracks for Two Door Cinema Club and MEN. Now adding to that respectable CV is the bros’ upcoming debut album, The Infinite Music of French Horn Rebellion, of which “This Moment” has been causing quite the fuss. MGMT, watch your back. And the rest of yous, stay tuned for some exciting news to come (hint: how’s a bit of FHR in the flesh?).

Arctic Monkeys – “Brick by Brick”

by JUICE on Friday, 11th March 2011

A new helping from the Arctic Monkeys camp, “Brick by Brick” comes across as heavy and straight-shootin’ as any band that’s spent time would Josh Homme would. The track is the first to drop from the Monkeys’ upcoming album, Suck It And See, so keep your ears out for that.

Eisley – The Valley

by JUICE on Thursday, 3rd March 2011

Its been four years since Combinations but the DuPree siblings have certainly made their latest full-length offering worth the wait. The Valley represents a darker ethereal tone to Eisley but a lot has happened since we last heard from the quintet (including that nasty separation with their old label) so it’s a growth that wasn’t entirely unexpected. Their new record is hot off the presses from Equal Vision and its chock full of that springlike gorgeousness that we’ve all come to know and love.
