With seemingly fewer spaces to lend their walls for Singapore’s punk, hardcore and metal communities each year, and more made-in-Singapore acts taking their shockwave-making music to foreign shores, it’s no easy feat for fans to catch their homegrown heroes in action. To celebrate the heavier sounds of local music, promoter ACPHC, helmed by The Caulfield Cult’s Nicholas Wong, and DIY hardcore label, Dangerous Goods, present Dangerous Fest 2017 to proudly showcase the bands and music of the label’s ear drum-shattering output.
Held at Aliwal Arts Centre and featuring a lineup bursting with accomplished hardcore acts, including The Caulfield Cult, Straight Forward, False Plaintiff, Abolition A.D and many more who’ll bring the sonic force of a sledgehammer to the Kampung Glam neighbourhood, the all-day affair welcomes emerging bands that include punk outfit Bruised Willies and melodic hardcore group Exhibitors, both hot off the trail of new EPs, the former having recently earnt its stripes on Australia’s national triple j radio station.
Whether you’re in tune to the local hardcore scene or not, this is one day you won’t want to miss for an earful of Singapore’s heaviest hitters. Get there early for the front row stage-dives, or forever hold your peace.
Dangerous Fest takes place on January 7 from 3pm at Aliwal Arts Centre. Entry $15. For more info and set times, visit the official event page HERE.
