Notebook Vol. 1 – Begin

To promote art and different forms of creative printing techniques that can be done on plain notebooks , AlsOdominie presents Notebook Vol. 1 – Begin – a project and exhibition that gives love to the exchange of inspiration, ideas, creativity and all things magical between the artist, the designer, the creative community and the folks who make these ideas happen. Having the notebook serve as an empty canvas, eight creative cats from different disciplines in the industry have collaborated with Dominie Press to create customised notebooks, with designs ranging from illustrated narratives to pop-up elements to graphical musings by the eight.
So who are these folks? In no order of appearance: Dean Chew, architect and DJ; Grace Tan, founder of fashion label, Kwodrent; Jeremy Hiah, artist; Louis Lam, graphic designer; Mark Lim, photographer; Teo Ying Hui, owner of fashion label, Demisemiquaver; Xhin, DJ and producer; and Zul Mahmod, sound artist.
These notebooks will be formed into a large sculpture that will be exhibited at The Substation Gallery. What’s unique is that audiences will be able to participate in the process of building and morphing the form of this structure by displacing and replacing the notebooks in an interactive process encouraged by the curator. After showing at the current venue, Notebook Vol. 1 – Begin will travel to five other locations, which have yet to be announced at press time. But be patient yeah? Good things always take time.
Curated by Chin (also a friend of JUICE), Notebook Vol. 1 – Begin takes place at The Substation Gallery from May 29 till 19 June. The notebooks are available for sale at the venue and Front Row.
